Diet and Lifestyle Modifications for PCOD Treatment in Ayurveda

Polycystic ovary Disease is a most common problem in females due to hormonal imbalance. There is no clear cause of PCOD but it is believed that it occurs due to our imbalance dosha, eating habits, lack of physical activity and stress that we are taking. There is a study that 1:10 women around the world experience PCOD. PCOD Treatment in Ayurveda completely detoxify the body, make reproductive system strong and manage the problem of hormonal imbalance.

There are some common symptoms regarding PCOD:-

Irregular Menstrual Cycle:- Females with PCOD will often experience irregular periods which leads to challenging tasks to manage fertility.

Hirsutism: In PCOD females produce male hormones like testosterone which leads to hirsutism (excess hair on face, chest and back).

Weight gain :- Weight gain is the root cause of many problems and one of them is PCOD. It disturbs the metabolism and leads to fat accumulation especially on the abdomen.

Dosha Imbalance:- There are three dosha in our body that are vata ,kapha and pitta. PCOD often occurs due to imbalance of vata and kapha dosha which results in hormonal imbalance.

Digestive Fire:- It is used to say that all the problems arise from the weak digestive fire . Weak digestive fire forms the toxins in the body which blocks many organs of the body and further disturbs the equilibrium of hormones.

Ojas depletion:- Ojas is considered as an immunity in ayurveda . Eating junk or processed food ,lack of physical activity and stress will deplete the ojas and impact your health.

Diet Modification for PCOD:-

Ayurveda’s main concern is to balance the dosha so that it can reactivate the healing abilities and enhance the overall well being. It suggests the food that will balance the vata and kapha in the body.

Healthy Fats:- Ayurveda suggests to consume a moderate amount of healthy fats like coconut oil, ghee and olive oil. These fats are abundant in nutrients that take care of  overall well-being.

Stay Hydrated:- Drink warm herbal tea and water at room temperature for the overall well being. Avoid drinking cold beverages as they imbalance the digestion.  

Incorporate spices:- Add cumin, turmeric and fenugreek in your diet as these are helpful for digestion and increases the immunity of the body.

 Fibre rich:- Consume fibre rich vegetables and fruits which improve the digestion and gut health.

Lifestyle modifications for PCOD:-

Regular Exercise:- Try to do exercise regularly and according to your body type. It helps in weight management and reduction in stress.

Stress Management:- Practice stress management techniques like yoga, meditation and deep breathing to manage stress and overall well being.

Mindful Eating:- By paying attention to your eating habits you will make conscious choices about food that nourishes your body. Avoid overeating and emotional eating. It will help for weight and stress management.

Strong Bonding:- Maintain strong bonds with your family and friends so that you can talk to them about your stress issues with them.

Activities:- Engage in some fun activities which make you feel active and energetic like gyming and swimming or engage in activities which make you feel calm like reading a book or listening to songs.

Eliminate Alcohol:- Eliminate alcohol from your life it imbalances the hormones and increases the stress.

In Conclusion , It can be  said that ayurveda offers a holistic approach to manage the PCOD. Ayurvedic experts consider the medical history, regular routine and conduct tests to address the root cause of the problem.
